INFRARED THERMOMETERS
What is an Infrared Thermometer?
An infrared thermometer (Infrared
Pyrometer) is a non-contact temperature
measurement device. Infrared Thermometers detect
the infrared energy that is emitted by all materials,
above absolute zero (0°Kelvin). Using various
laws of Physics this detected energy is converted
to a temperature reading.
Why use an Infrared Thermometer?
Infrared thermometers are generally
used when conventional contact methods are not
suitable. This may be because the material is
moving, or it would be damaged by contact, or
it is too hot or dangerous to touch. In these
cases an Infrared Thermometer is the ideal instrument.
Infrared Thermometers can measure
temperatures from around -20 to 3000°C, which
covers probably 99% of applications.
However the selection of an Infrared
Thermometer requires care and attention to the
application detail, otherwise the wrong instrument
can be specified with resultant poor performance.
Terrafirma
Instruments can help you determine
the correct instrument for your application.
Using the knowledge gained in over
30 years in the industry we can quickly specify
the best, cost effective solution, for your application
need.
